Abstract

The MOSTRA pre-project is a joint research group between INRIA and the ``Pôle Universitaire Léonard de Vinci'', an institution which combines applied research with education at the undergraduate and graduate level.

The research carried out at MOSTRA addresses some of the most challenging issues in the field of computational structural mechanics, with emphasis on the following four topics :

the reliability and performance of linear and non-linear finite element methods for shells, including composite structures with damage ;
the solution of large-scale problems using domain decomposition algorithms ;
the numerical simulation of fluid-structure interaction problems ;
the design and analysis of ``adaptive structures'', through active control procedures and the modeling of ``smart materials''.
