RNAspace – a platform for noncoding RNA annotation

RNAspace is an open source platform born from a national collaborative initiative. Its goal is to develop and integrate functionalities allowing structural and functional noncoding RNA annotation (see Section 3.3 ).

RNAspace is written in Python with the template engine Cheetah and the object-oriented HTTP framework Cherrypy. It totalizes more than 17,000 lines of code. It is currently made available through a web site that has been opened to the scientific community for a few months: http://www.rnaspace.org , and it is distributed under the GPL licence. The project has been awarded by the national IBISA label in autumn 2009(IBISA is a French consortium for evaluating and funding national technological platforms in life sciences.).
