Standardization and verification framework for numerical computations
Participant : S. Steer.
The international Numerical Mathematics consortium (NMC) was founded to find a solution to this lack of standardization. It aims to provide recommendations and, standardized, well organized, information for a fundamental set of math functionalities applicable to most disciplines and so to reduce the overall cost of numerical algorithm development as well as to increase algorithm portability. Defining a standard implies to propose compliance checking and verification tools. Founded in 2005 the NMC already published three drafts of the standard focused on “semantic” function definitions. This year our work concerns further reflections on the validation and verification, the realization of a fourth draft of the standard and the establishment of a wiki to support the collaborative development of the standard.
