HJB approach for trajectory optimization of space launchers
In the framework of our research with CNES in fast numerical methods for solving Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman equations, we were able to build an efficient numerical code for optimizing the trajectory of the European launcher Ariane 5, with maximal payload and under a structural constraint on dynamic pressure.
Analysis of the shooting algorithm
For deterministic state-constrained optimal control problems we were able to provide a better understanding of the well-posedness and numerical properties of the shooting algorithm  . This algorithm has been applied to the optimization of an atmospheric reentry problem in  .
