Section: Application Domains
Dynamic optimization appears in various applied fields: mechanics, physics, biology, economics. Pontryagin's principle itself appeared in the fifties as an applied tools for mechnaical engineers. Since that time progress in the theory and in the application went hand by hand, and so we are commited to develop both of them. We took part ine the past few years in the following appied projects:
Aerospace trajectories - CNES, ONERA. We have a long tradition of studying aerospace trajectory optimization problems: ascent phase of launchers, re-entry problem). Our main contributions in this field have been carried out in collaboration with CNES, Onera, through either research contracts or PhD fellowships. see  ,  ,  ,  ,  .
Production, storage and Natural and power resources. - EDF, GDF, Total.
We have worked with EDF on the optimization of the short-term electricity production  , as well as the mid-term electricity production. We are starting a collaboration with TOTAL on the trading of LNG (liquefied natural gas).
