Conferences, Seminars, Meetings

• The members of the Ariana project-team participated actively in GdR ISIS and GdR MSPCV.

• Members of the Ariana project-team participated in the Fête de la Science at INRIA in November, and gave talks to 10 to 14 year-old teen-agers at the College des Muriers in Cannes.

• The Ariana project-team organized numerous seminars in image processing during 2009. Eighteen researchers were invited from the following countries: Austria, Belgium, China, France, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and the USA. For more information, see the Ariana project-team web site.

• Members of the Ariana project-team participated actively in the visits to INRIA Sophia Antipolis of students from the Grandes Écoles (ENPC, ISAE/Sup'Aéro); helped students of the Classes Préparatoires with TIPE in France; and gave information on remote sensing image processing to high school students in Mauritius.

• Csaba Benedek gave seminars at MTA SZTAKI, Budapest, Hungary, in June. He presented his work at the WACV'09 conference, in Snowbird, Utah, USA, in December.

• Laure Blanc-Féraud gave a lesson at the summer school on `Inverse Problems in Signal and Image Processing' in Peyresq, France 2009. She attended the IEEE IGARSS'09, and presented a poster and chaired a session at the Gretsi'09.

• Mikael Carlavan gave a talk at the conference IGARSS'09, Cape Town, South Africa in July. He also gave a talk at the conference GRETSI'09, Dijon, France in September.

• Xavier Descombes visited the Dobrushin Laboratory (IITP, Russian Academy of Science) for two weeks in July. He attended and gave presentations at the EMMCVPR conference in Bonn in August and at the GRETSI conference in Dijon in September. He was an invited speaker in the 5th International Workshop on `Data - Algorithms - Decision Making' in Pilsen in November. He organised several meetings for the Associated Team ODESSA and participated in ANR Micro-Réseaux project meetings. He took part in meetings with the French Space Agency (CNES) in October and December and with Galderma in June and November.

• Aymen El Ghoul gave seminars at ENSA Tunis and at Sup'Com, Tunis, in January and April respectively. He presented a paper at the conference EUSIPCO'09 in Glasgow, UK, in August.

• Neismon Fahe gave a talk and demo at the INRIA Sophia `Software Days' in March, and made a presentation at the IFN in Nogent-sur-Vernisson in May.

• Daniele Graziani presented a paper at the conference ISBI 09 in Boston in June, and gave a talk at the European Conference on Elliptic and Parabolic Problems at Gaeta, Italy, in May.

• Ahmed Gamal-Eldin attended a summer school entitled `Stochastic geometry, spatial statistics and random fields', at the Söllerhaus in Hirschegg, Austria. It was organized by The Institute of Stochastics of Ulm University in cooperation with Lomonosov Moscow State University.

• Giovanni Gherdovich attended the CNRS summer school `Conception de nouveaux outils mathématiques pour l'analyse d'images et la vision par ordinateur' in Figeac in June. At this meeting he gave a poster presentation. In October he gave a talk at the Maths Department of the University of Nice Sophia-Antipolis.

• Ian Jermyn gave a seminar in the School of Systems Engineering at Reading University, UK, in March. He visited the Statistics Department of Florida State University, USA, in March/April. He gave a seminar in the Department of Mathematical Engineering at the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, and another in the Laboratoire Jacques-Louis Lions of the Université Pierre et Marie Curie and CNRS, both in April. He visited the Computer Science Department of Nagoya City University and gave a seminar, and then attended ICCV'09 and presented a paper at the NORDIA'09 workshop, in Japan in September/October. He visited the French Space Agency (CNES) in Toulouse in October.

• Vladimir Krylov presented a paper at the conference SPIE Electronic Imaging'09, San Jose, California, USA in January and gave a talk at the French Space Agency (CNES) in Toulouse in October.

• Maria Kulikova gave a talk at Florida State University (FSU) in February. In April, she presented her work in a `Cross Seminar' at INRIA. She took part in the meetings of the Associated Team ODESSA with Prof. E. Zhizhina from the Institute of Information Transmission Problems (IITP), in July at IITP in Moscow. In December, she gave a talk at the conference SITIS, in Marrakech, Morocco.

• Praveen Pankajakshan gave a talk at the `Journée Restauration CCT TSI' at CNES, Toulouse, in January. In April, he presented his work in a `Cross Seminar' at INRIA. He gave a talk at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, in June, and he had a poster at the International Symposium on Biomedical Imaging (ISBI) in Boston, USA, in July.

• Josiane Zerubia gave talks at CS and Astrium in Toulouse in January, and also visited Telecom Paris Tech. In February, she gave a talk at TESA in Toulouse and participated in the CNES `Research and Technology Day' in Labege. In March, she participated in the IGN `Research Days' in Saint Mandé, and presented the work of Ariana to the `Comité de Pilotage' of I3S/INRIA. In May, she gave a talk at Vega Tech in Toulouse, and attended events for the 20^th anniversary of ERCIM and the 50^th anniversary of SFPT (held at CNAM), both in Paris. In June, she visited Galderma in Sophia Antipolis. In August, she visited the GIPSA Lab at INP Grenoble. In September, she gave a plenary talk at the ISPRS CMRT'09 Workshop in Paris (talk available at www.cmrt09.bv.tum.de ), and attended GRETSI'09 in Dijon, where she had two papers. In October, she visited the French Space Agency (CNES) in Toulouse. In November, she had a meeting at the Pasteur Institute about the P2R project, and the IEEE BISP TC, and attended the kick-off meeting of ANR Defis in Paris, where she presented the DIAMOND project. Also in November, she visited INRA Sophia Antipolis, the IGN in Saint Mandé, and Galderma in Sophia Antipolis. In December, she visited Sanofi Aventis R & D and Astrium EADS, both in Toulouse, and presented (jointly with P. Couteron) the work of the AAP INRA/IRD/Ariana project at the INRA/INRIA days held in Sophia Antipolis. Also in December, she attended the first ANR DIAMOND meeting at the Pasteur Institute in Paris as PI.
