MicrOBI is a relational database devoted to microorganisms, integrating and synchronizing heterogeneous data from various public sources: genome data (EBI genome files), proteome data (Swiss-Prot and HAMAP), metabolic data (Enzyme and KEGG) and functional classification (GeneOntology). It has been implemented using PosgreSQL and ZOPE and uses trigger mechanisms for automatic updates and data consistency checks. It acts as a data source for GEB (Section 5.9 ), but can also be used as a stand-alone database. Since 2006, it is part of a new opensource project called "OBISchema".
